Emotional Regulation for
Early Childhood teams
Professional learning that helps educators understand behaviour, strengthen co-regulation and respond with greater calm, clarity and confidence.

Every centre knows the reality.
A transition unravels.
A child becomes overwhelmed.
Several children need support at once.
Educators are stretched across multiple emotional demands.
These can look like separate challenges — behaviour, routines, communication, educator stress.
But underneath them sits one foundational process:

Emotional regulation is not extra to learning.
It is what makes learning possible.
Young children build regulation through repeated experiences with emotionally available adults.
Every transition.
Every conflict.
Every repair.
Every response.
Educators are already doing this work.
What many teams need is a clear, shared framework to do it more intentionally, consistently and confidently across the whole service.
Behaviour is communication. But communicating what?
Educators already know to look beneath behaviour.
The challenge is knowing what to look for — especially in pressured moments when several children need you at once: meltdowns, clinging, whining and conflict.
Emotional regulation gives educators a clear framework to recognise the exact need beneath the behaviour and choose a response that meet the child’s needs in that moment.
So instead of guessing, educators can respond with greater clarity and confidence.
What this can unlock
For educators
For children
For your service
For your team
A shared language and a clear, repeatable way to co-regulate through challenging moments.
Greater emotional safety, stronger relationships and growing capacity for self-regulation
More calm and consistency across educators and rooms.
Evidence-informed professional development that strengthens everyday practice and support your Quality Improvement Plan.
The Emotional Seasons™
A clear map for emotional regulation
I created The Emotional Seasons™ to translate neuroscience, attachment theory and learning theory into practical everyday practice.
It helps educators:
-
recognise emotional states in children — and themselves
-
understand the needs beneath behaviour
-
respond with clarity instead of reactivity
-
co-regulate through connection
-
build consistency across rooms and teams
The Emotional Seasons™ provides the shared language.
The 6Cs of Co-Regulation provides the step-by- step process for responding in the moment.
Together, they give educators something they can understand, remember and use straight away.
